NCAA requirements depend on the division in which a school competes. There are three divisions (I, II, and III.) UCLA competes in Division I, so students at UCLA have to meet the same requirements as all Div. I athletes.

To receive an athletic scholarship or participate in College Sports, Division I students must:

  1. Complete the required number of high school core courses.
  2. Meet the required grade point average in core courses.
  3. Earn an SAT or ACT score that meets the minimum determined by the GPA-test score sliding scale.

Once in college, NCAA student-athletes need to demonstrate academic progress towards graduation in order to maintain eligibility.

Interested students may wish to read the full list of required courses and see the sliding SAT/ACT test score chart at the NCAA website.
