The role of an umpire in Netball is to make sure the players are playing properly and that the game is running smoothly and properly. He/she must detect things like footwork, repossession, contact, the 3 second rule etc. The umpire's decision is final.

Check the players for jewellery
Check the playing for long nails -if so they have to trim them down short.
