Famously, the 'Galley' building was built by the US Navy during the 1940s, to house most of the activities required there. The Galley building includes food facilities, offices, housing, medical areas, entertainment resources, and more. Also, there is a multi-faith chapel there, The Chapel of the Snows, where people of any denomination can spend time, and where some ritual spiritual services are conducted. One of the newer facilities is the Crary Science facility, below, designed as specific scientific support for the individual branches of science conducted on the continent.
