Good and cheap are two items that are not necessarily compatible when it comes to Martial Arts schools. Most schools will charge less then $100 a month for lessons. Some have special starter deals. I teach for $45 a month, but I have no overhead and don't have to buy my own insurance.

In some schools, the martial art of kabudo has been merged with karate. Kabudo teaches the staff as a weapon.
That will depend on the school and style of karate. Some schools do not have stripes and simply go from one solid color to another.
Karate is very good for girls. Some of my best students are girls. They have good focus and learn well.
Many schools and styles teach board breaking, but it is not required in some.

Typically no school will have a free membership. However, some may offer scholarships for those that need help.
It depends upon which school you enroll. Some schools may take new students any day of the year, while some others take students at the beginning of a "semester", much alike public schools.
