her best achievements are when she won medals at the olympic games and carried both Australian and Aborginie flag around the running track

Cathy Freeman , also won young Australian of the year award in 1998, this was an outstanding achievement and tribute to the Aboriginals. she won a gold medal in the 2000 Olympics for the 400m which was her most well known achievement. Although prior to this :

- at age 17 she won a gold medal in the commonwealth games.

- she won gold again , at the 1994 commonwealth games in the 200m & 400m - she was choosen to light the olympic torch at the 2000 Olympics in sydney

Cathy then announced her ritirement in 2003.
