Wrigley Field opened in 1914 as home of the Chicago Chi-Feds of the short lived Federal League. Charles Weeghman, owner and founder of the team, had the park built and it opened with the name Weeghman Park. When the Federal League folded after the 1915 season, Weeghman joined forces with William Wrigley Jr. and bought the Cubs and moved their home games to Weeghman Park from West Side Grounds where they had played since 1893.
