Actually, the "skirt and top" uniform for the players in the AAGPBL were a new creation of their own. They did not model after any fashions during World War II. The owner of the leauge, Phillip Wrigley, wanted to acttract business to this new league, and therefore made the girls dress feminine, in order to get attention from fans and press.
