Keel
The keel is the main structural member running fore and aft on a boat.
It depends on the structural element in which the bars are being placed. In a footing, it is 3" clr of the bottom of the ftg. In a slab, it can be centered in the slab or located towards the top or bottom. Details and sections shown on the structural drawings or general notations or specifications by the engineer of the projects record should clarify the exact location the bar is to be placed.

measure the Circumference of both the top and bottom edges of the sleeve. measure the height of the sleeve. using a centerline draw the first Circumference(kinda of like a lower case "T") measure down the height of the sleeve along the centerline, draw in the other Circumference. connect the endpoints on the left then the right. you now have a flat drawing from which to measure your dimensions, area, etc.
Concentric reducers are a symmetrical, conical shaped device that enlarges or reduces a pipes diameter equally about the centerline. An Eccentric reducer is not Symmetrical about the centerline. For example, envision the flow through a gravity based pipe... picture it in terms of an elevation section view... the eccentric reducer maintains the flowline (a straight continuous line along the bottom) while the pipe size decreases from the top down.

A candle structure includes a candle body and a plurality of wicks. The candle body is configured with a top and bottom surface, and an outside wall that tapers substantially inward from the top surface to the bottom surface. The plurality of wicks is configured to supply air through the gaps of standing wicks that protrude from the top surface of the candle structure. The plurality of wicks extends above the body and the wicks are aligned longitudinally. The plurality of wicks is arranged radially to taper outward toward the bottom surface of the candle body.
An inverted beam is a beam whose bottom is the same as the slab. A drop beam is a beam that is put under the structural member it supports.
You should leave a space. Most pet doors instruct this, and will have a piece across the bottom intended to settle into the existing door. Cutting from the bottom of the door severely compromises the structural integrity of the door, as well, and may cause eventual splitting or other damage to the door.

Yes, off course. However, with the math background that most architecture programs require, they probably wont be able to go too in depth in structural engineering. I'm an undergrad in civil eng. focusing on structures. Although structural engrs work closely with architects, the field itself is a very unique and technical and deals with alot of math, mechanics (statics, dynamics, mech. of materials, vibration,...)... Bottom line, anybody in the technical fields can study structural engr, but to BECOME a structural engineer, you most likely need a masters degree, PE license, as well as the SE license. AKA [lotsaa work] but cool stuff if you like it!
