A religious festival dedicated to the gods
The Olympics.
The ancient Greeks trained for the Olympics by running, wrestling and eating. These tasks were considered their full time job. Their whole purpose was to bring glory to their tribe or community.
The verb to 'discover' means to find something and as the Olympics are a sporting event invented by man (the ancient Greeks), it is impossible to 'find' it. The question is therefore meaningless.
When the Greeks started it along with the Olympics.
Umm, the Olympics? The sporting events to show physical excellence, which was considered by Greeks to be the closest you could get to being a god. The gods lived on Mt. Olympus, hence the name: Olympics.
The Greeks invented the Olympics in honour of their gods.
The Greeks thought up the Olympics centuries ago. Since the Greeks were proud of their athletes, they wanted them to display their skills on a global stage. While the first Olympic games mainly consisted of Greek, Trojan, and other domestic athletes, it would be the spark of a global sporting phenomenon that continues today.
Although the Greeks did invent the Olympics, they do not own it. It is owned by the International Olympic Committee.
