If you actually want to go somewhere besides the skate park or your neighborhood, go with a BMX-style bike. You can go farther while doing some tricks here and there, not to mention they're probably faster. If you want to do some major tricks, though, go with a skateboard. You can do much more complicated tricks on a skateboard and they are actually meant for doing stunts, where as BMX bikes are just modified.
