Technically speaking, any vessel over 16 feet long is a yacht. So pros & cons are limited to size-specific needs. Daysailers are a lot of fun in & around the harbor, but may be dangerous if out on the deep & briny. I once took a 7 foot sailboat out on the ocean & sailed it around an oil tanker -what a mistake! It seemed to take forever & the side of the ship was so high that it cut off our wind! -We had to drift away from the ship to regain a windy area.
