There are several things you might consider, first off I don't know what plug you are using but you might want to try one step colder on your spark plug. check your points in the distribuetor for being burnt shut or your coil went bad.
could be as simple as burnt spark plugs i would think it would run worse with a burnt piston but if its not smoking or anything the pistons should be fine so i would start with the plugs

No, that's usually water getting into cylinders.
Bad plugs or plug wires. Blown head gasket or burnt valve. A compression test will eliminate burnt valve or blown gasket.
transmission may be shot or your starter plugs are burnt out or your fuel filter is broken
Black soot isn't a good sign, one of ur plugs or plug wires must have burnt up. and should be replaced.
