What is the Will of D in one piece?

The Will of D. has yet to be explained in One Piece. Many characters of significance in the series are known to have the middle initial D, which is passed down through families. Such characters include Gol D. Roger, the deceased King of the pirates; Roger's Wife, Portugas D. Rouge; Roger's now deceased son, Portugas D. Ace (former third in command of the Whitebeard pirates, believed at the time to be the strongest pirate crew in the world); the "hero of the navy", Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp; the world's most wanted man, Monkey D. Dragon; one of the eleven supernovas, pirate rookie Monkey D. Luffy (also the series main character and likely the future King of the Pirates); and many others, including one of the four current pirate yonko, Marshall D. Teach. Roger is believed to have had uncovered the significance of the "Will of D" as he was seen explaining the matter to Whitebeard in a flashback. More recently, it has been explained that the 'D' refers to a family, or perhaps a tribe, who are the natural enemies of the 'heavenly celestial dragons', the descendents of the kings who formed the world government.
