To remove a constant velocity (CV) axle, you typically need to jack up the vehicle, remove the wheel, disconnect the axle nut, separate the ball joint or control arm, and then pull the CV axle out from the wheel hub. It's important to consult a repair manual or seek professional help if you're unsure about the process.
I need some help, what are you actually trying to do and what are you referring to as the flange?
You start by taking the wheels off and then take apart the right side. Everything pulls out to the left. Check out my bio page for help.
Need to know year, make , model, front axle or rear axle to help you.
Shaft removalremove front tire. remove axle nut. remove nut and bolt holding strut and lower control arm together. remove pinchbolt to the balljoint and separate lower control arm from hub. push axle through hub. using apry bar, pry axle out of transmission housing and remove axle. reinstall axle. recommend using a brass hammer to tap axle back into transmission. a brass hammer will not damage axle threads. make sure new axle goes all the way in transmission. reverse order to reinstall. To successfully remove the axle nut (aka "spindle nut"), use a 1 7/16" socket with a long, metal bar over the ratchet handle to break it. The force needed to break the nut is very high, and therefore you need to have the car on both wheels and on the ground. Trying to loosen the nut while its on the jack will result in the opposite tire turning and the car lifting off the jacks/jack stands and possibly causing it to fall. If the bolts haven't been touched in some time, try using Liquid Wrench on them. It can help loosen seized nuts and bolts.
Lift the MPV up by the body jack points. Remove wheel. Remove axle nut, if you have a 1/2 impact gun it will be easier. Remove ABS line going into the knuckle (small 10mm head bolt) The ABS sensor may need to be carefully rocked back and forth to get it out. Be careful not to break it. Remove brake caliper and support it by using a coat hanger to keep the brake line from taking all the weight of it. (the brake line can get damaged internally) Remove Rotor. Remove the bottom strut bolts (2 of them). Push the axle out of the hub, you might need to help it with a hammer. You should have enough room to get the axle out without removing the lower balljoint. If you have trouble, then remove the tie rod end and/or the lower balljoint. Take a prybar and pop the inner axle joint out of the transmission. Good luck.
Some can be removed without getting into the "banjo" 1st remove wheel and drum Check to see if hub bolt access holes - if so check backing plate (axle seal) to see if there are 4 bolts that will line up with hole in axle hub - if so remove 4 bolts axle should slide out with bearings and grease seal attached. No need to remove brake or assembly. It is best that you have some direction. Get a manual from DISCOUNTAUTOREPAIRMANUALS.COM. They are about $9 and will help on the next repair.
None of those numbers will help. You will need the Serial # off the radio to find the code. Any Honda dealer can tell you if you have that Serial #. Of course you will need to remove the radio to see it on the radio chassis.
Need more info to help you. What will the axle fit, a wheel barrow, a small yard wagon, a larger tow behind trailer?
This can be an involved task. It requires removing the axle nut and freeing the outboard side of the axle, and removing whatever suspension components may be necessary to remove the axle from the car. Once removed, you have to disassemble the joint for replacement or just replace the entire axle assembly. You will need several tools for this job, and a good shop manual. See the related links for an online source of information that may help.
No you dont, remove axle nut it is torque at about 125ft lbs going to be tough. Remove hub assbly, three 12 point, 14 mil bolts behind hub assbly. After bolts are out you might need a little help (hammer) to get this off the knuckle (rust and such) Oh dont forget to take off caliper and rotor. After hub assbly is off axle will pull out (be very carful NOT to damage seals in side Also check out pavementsucks.com it is a forum all ans all the time.
