So far, all of the NFL rookie running backs haven't fumbled in the 2009 regular season, but that will probably change in two weeks.

If a running back fumbles the ball and the other team recovers are the yards gained prior to the fumble counted for the running backs stats?

Yes. The running back will get credit for the number of yards past the line of scrimmage the fumble occurred. If the line of scrimmage was at the defense's 20 yard line and the fumble occurred at the defense's 14 yard line, the running back would be credited with 6 yards rushing. If the line of scrimmage was at the defense's 14 yard line and the fumble occurred at the defense's 20 yard line, the running back would be credited with -6 yards rushing.

How much money does a NFL running back make?

it all depends on the yards per game you get the team your playing for you performance on and off the field. And usaully it varries a running back like Barry Sanders or Walter Payton woulda been making about 1,000,000-2,500,000/Per Season. Also another big factory is weather your a Rookie,Starter,Pro. And another thing you take into account is that it depends how much you play and weather you a back up or starting line up running back.Hope that helped you out a bit and cleared up any of the confusion of the answer from before. LOL as much as drake come on the qautre backs make as much as him not the running backs.

What is a running back?

Technically there is no difference. The term "Running Back" is generally used to describe Fullbacks, Tail Backs and Half Backs. - As it used to be, full backs were the faster, smaller players in the backfield, and halfbacks were the bigger, stronger blockers. But, as the positions evolved, half backs/ tail backs are now the "feature" backs. Typically smaller and faster, and get more carries than today's full back, which is now the bigger, stronger player, who typically block for half/tail backs. - Running Backs include tail/half backs. Such as Ladanian Tomlinson, Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers, Willie Parker, etc. - Full Backs are the bigger stronger backs, and are considered a separate category from the "other" running backs. Full backs today are players like Mike Alstott, Lorenzo Neal, etc So to be explicit, when someone thinks of a "running back" they're typically thinking of a tail back, or half back, as it's more commonly referred to.
