they are essentially sharpies that look like knifes. the blade has felt covered in ink on the edges of the blade to simulate a cutting wound. i own one and got it online for 25$. mine is good, but you could probably find one for cheaper online somewhere. just Google "paint ball knife for sale" and you should be able to find something.

Depends on the field, each field is different, there is no "legal" age you have to be to play paintball but largely fields will not allow anyone under 10 to play. That aside I have played with a few kids younger, you just have to call around to fields and ask.
