Hockey has been played for over 100 years in many countries, many leagues and at various levels of competition. One would have to check the records of every league and game played from the very beginning, a virtual impossibility!
However, in the NHL itself, the record for most goals in one game is 21. It has happened twice. first on Jan.10, 1920 when Montreal defeated Toronto St. Patricks 14-7 and again on Dec. 11, 1985 when Edmonton Oilers beat Chicago Blackhawks 12-9.
Sohail Abbas holds the world record for the most goals scored in international hockey. He is reported to have scored 306 goals in his international career so far.

Pelé has scored the most goals. He scored 1281 goals in 1363 games.
Pele has recorded 1201 goals.
Wayne Gretzky.
The player with the most goals in hockey is Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky holds a record of 894 career goals and 122 playoffs career goals for a total of 1016 goals.
