If you are trying to achieve more muscle tone try lifting lighter weights but with more reps. Also, doing cardio-vascular exercises like running burns fat quickly and helps tone your whole body in general. Make sure you break a good sweat when exercising and try going to the sauna for about 10 minutes after your routine but make sure you drink plenty of water.

Diet is also extremely important if you want to get toned. Avoid foods with excessive carbs and fat. Salt retains too much water in your body so stay away from salty foods such as pretzels, popcorn, and even bread. However this does not mean you should't drink water its important you always stay hydrated and eat lean meat, fruits, vegetables, and other lean protein-packed foods. There are plenty of diets out there to help people get lean that are not too hard to find.

What is the medical term meaning abnormal tone?

Dystonia is an abnormal condition of muscle tone. Some specific types of dystonia include atonia (no muscle tone); hypotonia (too little muscle tone); and hypertonia (too much muscle tone). Increased muscle tension can cause the muscle to go into spasm. This is called tetany. I don't know which term of muscle tone you are referring to, but I have cerebral palsy, so I can answer this easily. There are two terms that commonly describe abnormal muscle tone. One is hypertonia and the other is hypotonia. In hypertonia, too much tone enters the body. Muscles become stiff and sometimes stuck in certain positions (e.g. walking on the toes). In hypotonia, there is not enough tone to perform certain tasks. Muscles may act floppy or uncontrolled. Tone is very powerful, so a person who has problems typically cannot overcome it on their own.
