There is no roster limit but only 36 players may be on scholarship. Division I allows for 85 players on scholarship and Division I-A allows for 63.
Probably more soccer players. But it is hardly fair to limit only one side to just one country. America has only 300 million of the over 6 billion people in the world. I would bet that there are more American football players than Tunisian soccer players.
via the draft 96 players enter the nba, but players can come to the nba undrafted. There is no limit on how many players can join in one year.
Most college teams have around 125 players on average; a mix of walk-ons and scholarship players. The NCAA limit on scholarships is 85. Keep in mind, when they practice during the week, you have 1st, 2nd and 3rd string players on both offense and defense. That's 66 players just to fill in the depth chart. You have the walk-ons who have dreams of playing - and many do. The walk-ons become a key player in preparing the starters for the coming game. They simulate the other teams tendencies.
13 scholarship players but no limit on walk ons
11 for each team. So, 22 at one time if you include both teams.

American Football players come on and off the "pitch" (field) between plays, at the discretion of the coach. There is no limit to the number of substitutions. There are rules about procedure (must report to the huddle, the player being replaced must leave immediately etc.)
Only 11 players can be on the field at any time. However, if you're asking how many players can be on the team... NFL: 53-man roster plus an 8-man practice squad. Only 46 may dress for a game. College: 105-man roster limit. Dress limit will vary depending upon the conference and whether the game is home or away. High school: Varies depending upon state and/or conference.
