Remove the bolts. Replace shock. Tighten bolts to the manufacturers recommended torque setting.
73 N-m for Dry Type / 66N-m for Lubricated
New Headbolts are recommended Long bolts are torqued to 46'lbs + 90 degrees. Short bolts are torqued 43'lbs + 90 degrees. Start in the center, and work to the edges, torquing the bolts in two stages. Rockers are torqued to 22'lbs.
it depends on what year civic you have and what motor is in it as to where the bolts are located. but you remove the bolts, scrape the old gasket of of the head with a razor (be careful not to scratch or gouge) and you install the new gasket and valve cover. tighten the bolts to recommended specs, on mine i believe it is 32-35 inch pounds
Use a bolt extractor. It is not recommended to reuse the head bolts, that is why they are designed to not fit a 12mm or a 13mm.
you don't have to have the head checked but its recommended. the head bolts are supposed to be torqued in counterclockwise order from the inside bolts to the outside bolts. torque them in order in three stages to 18 ft/lbs then to 27 ft/lbs then an additional 120 degrees except the front right stud which you torque to 90 degrees
Tighten all bolts first pass to 22 ft lbs Then long bolts 75 degrees Medium bolts 65 degrees Short bolts 55 degrees You can also do them this way. First pass 26 ft lbs Second pass 44 ft lbs Final pass 66 ft lbs The first method is the factory recommended but both will work fine.
There are a number of places where one can find replacement bolts for lock mechanisms. It is recommended that one take the model number of the lock or the actual broken lock that one is replacing to the store to facilitate getting the correct replacement. Stores such as Lowe's, RONA, Home Depot, or Ottawa Locksmith carry a wide selection of locks and bolts.
The air gap is .016 - .030compressor to engine 36 ft lbscompressor to bracket 16 ft lbs
The entire lift cylinder assembly must be replaced and it is recommended that they be replaced in pairs. The operation is pretty straightforward since all the mounting bolts are exposed and visible.
The 6 bolt holes in the back of the block are tapped 3/8-16. Make sure the bolts are long enough to have 1/2" of threads in the block. Minimum grade 5 bolts, grade 8 highly recommended. The tapped holes in the bell housing are usually 1/2-13, but watch for 7/16-14 which occurs in rare occasions.
