I broke my Thumb Snowboarding. That and wrists can be typical injuries of snow boarding. On a snow board your two options are to fall face first or back first. If you fall back first you have a tendency to put your hand out. Try it....what will hit the ground first? Your thumb. I actually snapped the tendon from the bone. Cost $2500 in surgery to get it fixed and that was mine after insurance. The wrists are next to take the punishment. In my opinion snowboarding can be more dangerous but I still do it.
I switch from skiing after 7 years or so to snow boarding. It was a hard change and I almost gave up several times. I would say leg injuries occur more in skiing.
It really depends on whether your talking about in the Olympics or referring to Nordic skiing as cross country skiing. Nordic events Ski jumping: is quite dangerous, but due to the steepness of the landing area, is not as dangerous as you might think. Cross country skiing: carries very little dangers. Combined event: carries the same dangers above. Alpine events such as the slalom, downhill event, super giant slalom ect...... Often feature high speed crashes, this is very likely to injure any skier, so i would say that alpine skiing is more dangerous.
*Cross country* skiing is where you are skiing on flat terrain. It's much more work than skiing down a hill.
No, because their both free??!!!
If you are recreationally skiing, then no, it is not a race. It is a chance to have fun. Remember that staying in control and skiing safely is more important than going fast. However, there is a division of alpine skiing that focuses on racing.
I think that it just depends where you are. In Colorado, I can almost guarantee that snow skiing is more popular than water skiing. If you are on the coasts or have a large mass of water in your state, and no mountains, then water skiing will be more popular than snow skiing.
It all really depends on how good you are. But i THINK skiing is because its a lot harder to stop , your going a lot faster etc.. but if your skateboarding and you would like to stop you can just simply but your heel down or if you wanna stop really fast u can simply just jump off the side of the board. But most people say skiing is easier.
it depends if u are skiing in certain areas than skiing but i think skiing is more dangerous and in skating you might be able to bruise yourself, maybe brake a bone but in skiing you can shatter bones but if your looking for a sport to do nothing beats skiing, what an adrenaline rush
Safer Walking is safer than cycling
girls lacrosse is actually more dangerous than cheerleading
Skiing is def. easier than snowboarding!
No, nothing is more dangerous than the devil. The devil is the ultimate source of evil.
