Its a great position for a good player to develop The role is key to both offensive and defensive play. In attack the role require the player who is normally one of the fastest forwards to break from a scrum for example and follow the ball across the back to be the first at the break down. The open-side is also they to make a nuisances of themselves attacking the scrum half and moving down the 10 channel to disrupt the opposing backs. They are used as alternative line jumpers as well and can make excellent breaks from the rear of a lineout to again set up a forwards attack.

Working with the blindside they will frequently be first to a breakdown and set up the ruck especially when the attacking team is carrying the ball good flankers will be making the attempt to take the ball as first tackler and often win a "holding on " penalty

Why is openside flanker a good position to play?

The openside flanker is a good position to play for talking. Your soul purpose is to chase the ball when it leaves the ruck and trample over the opposition backs. You are also flung up in the air at the line outs sometimes you also need to be fast and very good at tackling

What rugby position should you play I know its stupid im 5ft10 and im 12 im 144lbs but im confused im really alround im the fastest in my year but also the strongest i cant do front row lol any idea?

Well first of all.. I would for sure. place you in the scrum. But there are a few options for you.. if you are fast and a good tackler. i would place you as a flanker. but you are also tall and strong. so you can be the driving force behind the maul..so you could also be second row/lock my 3rd choice for you would be 8man.. but i think you would be best as a flanker. i see you as openside flanker and completely destroying their scrumhalf or flyhalf Hope this helps
