The prophet mohhamad had two postions:

1.prophency

2.iman

He was messenger of allah and a person who leaded his society

Some messengers were only the prophet and were not iman and some had two position like abraham (punh ).in every time there is only one imam who shoulb be obeyed and by presence of prophet mohammad ,Ali son of abutalab (punh) have should obeyed him . an after the death of prophet the successor of the prophet I mean, imam ali was the iman of that time.
