He had the greatest impact on the game of basketball than anyone who ever played. He is the reason for the term "Celtics mystique." Boston never came close to winning a championship before The Great Man arrived (begining in the 1956-'57 season) and the were virtually unbeatable (eight championships in a row, 11 in 13 years) during Emperor Russell's reign. The year after Mr. Russell retired, the Celtics failed to make the playoffs. Bill Russell is still light years ahead of anyone.
