A Figure Skating word that starts wih S is Synchro. Synchro is a group of skaters doing the same thing at the same time. They also enter competitions. Salchow. (pronounced sow-cow or sal-cow) A jump named for the inventor. Spin, sit spin. Spiral. Another name for arabesque. A move where the skater glides across the ice on one foot while the free leg is extended. The free leg should be waist level or higher. This move may be performed forward or backwards and there are many variations.

well, if by ie skating, you mean 'figure skating', then it is somewhat like dancing. imagine a guy and a girl ballroom dancing. the guy supports the girl, in most cases. it is the same on the ice. the man is there to hold her
It depends on how large your foot/skate is, it's usually about the same for the front with the topic and in the back it's longer. That's how all my skates were, at least.
