Can grading a sports card decrease its value?

It is very rare that grading a sports card decreases its value. Grading not only protects the card from possible damages, it also authenticates the originality of the card. BGS and PSA are most trusted sports card grading service provider, and the grade you receive from them will determine if your card is worth more or less.

Grading a Baseball card is just a process of evaluating the condition of the cards and assigning a numerical grade according to the result of the evaluation. It is not easy to grade them. You have to check the sharpness of the corners, centering of the printing, coloring, overall appearance, and if the card has any creases, rips, or staining. How does baseball card grading compare between PSA and GMA?

Either way you pay for someone to fill out a checklist with some degree of subjectivity, and add up the checks to get a score. You can pay $17/card for the "established" PSA, or $2 for a newer GMA. By the way, there's a rumor that someone can tell GMA what to grade to use. Someone is not reading closely enough - this is simply not true. GMA will act as a service provider to an independent grading company by encasing cards with that company's grade/logo. But if the card bares the GMA logo, it is independently graded.

Do baseball cards have a logo?

A logo of the company that issued the card will place their company logo on the card. Sometimes the team logo of the player on the card will be featured as well.

How do you grading a non sport cards?

Grading a non-sports card follows the same guidelines as the sports cards. This takes into account a number of parameters and card grades are given on this basis. It would be good if you visit: beckett.com/grading/grading_faqand read through 'Grading Criteria'.Grading is preceded by appraisal of the card wherein the score of your card (from 1 to 10) is determined based on condition of the card, determined by CCSE criteria (corners, centering, surface, edges). Highest of 10 is labeled Pristine, 9.5 is gem Mint, 9 is Mint and so on. Card prices are determined on the basis of these scores.
