Once the sale of the team to Genii Capital was completed after the 2010 season and the subsequent agreement with Lotus, the team applied for a British racing license for the 2011 F1 season. The team will be known as Lotus Renault GP and is not afflliated with the F1 team known as Team Lotus that began racing in the 2010 season.
Engines are still manufactured at a Renault plant in France.
