Sport: An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others.
It definitely qualifies as a sport based on this definition. However, I prefer the word "competition" when talking about NASCAR or Golf due to the lesser amount of physical exertion involved as compared to sports like hockey, tennis or football.
