Totally depends, but there are several levels. Rookies drafted can sign contracts worth anything from $235,000 all the way up to about $60 million-each year it goes up. These contracts don't necessarily represent how much money they bring home each week, though. Players who have "veteran" status (4 years?) are guaranteed a minimum salary based on how many seasons they've played (i.e. a 14 year vet will command a higher minimum salary than a 5th year vet). If I had to go out on a hunch and give a plain mean average, I'd say off the top of my head the "AVERAGE" (including backups here) NFL player brings home $1-1.5 million.
