While the Patriots have had a few stinkers in their history, 1990 stands as the worst single season the Patriots have ever had. The 1990 Patriots went a league worst 1-15, a .063 winning percentage. Statistically the 1990 Patriots had the worst offense in the league and the 2nd worst defense in the league. The 1990 Patriots were led by new head Coach Rod Rust. Needless to say, Rust was replaced after the 1-15 campaign. The 1990 Patriots franchise was voted the 2nd worst football team of all time by ESPN readers (prior to the 2008 Detroit Lions 0-16 season), behind the 1976 0-14 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On November 16, 1959, Boston business executive Billy Sullivan was awarded the eighth and final franchise of the developing American Football League (AFL). The following winter, locals were allowed to submit ideas for the Boston football team's official name. The most popular choice-and the one that Sullivan selected-was "Boston Patriots". Immediately thereafter, Phil Bissell developed the "Pat Patriot" logo.
This is their 50th season.
