Yes, however it is not recommended because if the first basemen is on the base while the runner is running and the runner runs into the first basemen there will be no calls made on interference and injury is very possible.

This is why you have the orange/white double first bases in youth softball. The first baseman can actually be called for interference if they are blocking the white base in youth softball just as they can for blocking second or third.

The second baseman stands in the infield area between first and second base. He or she can play as close or as far from second base as necessary, but is responsible for getting any balls that come between the first baseman and second base. He or she also stands in towards home plate, or out towards the outfield depending on the runners on base or the type of batter.

Only if he is intending to tag the runner instead of stepping on the first base bag.

Answer:

It depends on the situation. A defender cannot block a runners path just to be doing it, however if a defender is making a play on a batted ball then the defender has the right to field the ball and if the runner makes contact with him even if he is in the baseline the runner can be called out (more then likely will be called out for runner interference). If the defender is making a play on a thrown ball or a tag then if the 1 basemen "gets in the way" of the runner there is nothing illegal there either.

How do you play softball?

Softball is played on a diamond shaped field, generally known as a baseball diamond. The ball is bigger than the one used in baseball, but softball uses the same positions: catcher, pitcher, 1st basemen, 2nd basemen, 3rd basemen, short stop, and 3 outfielders (center, left, and right). The catcher wears a lot of protection on their knees (legs), chest , and face, and wears a catcher's mitt. When the ball is pitched, the player up to bat hits the ball with the bat, runs to 1st base, but depending on the hit, may attempt to get to 2nd, 3rd, or home. If the ball is caught by a player on the opposing team before touching the ground, then the batter is out. A player is also out if a member of the opposing team steps on the base, which a player is running to, before that player gets there. In this case, the member of the opposing team must have the ball in his/her hand. However, if it is not a force (when a player must go to the next base because the batter behind them must take their base) then a player must be tagged (touched by the ball) by a player from the opposing team in order for the player to be considered out. Sliding (throwing one's body at the base, as opposed to just running to it) is only used for when tagging is necessary to get that player out. There are usually 7 innings (both teams at bat before 3 outs counts as 1 inning) with nine players on the field at once.

If a fly pop on softball is hit to right field and you are running bases what do you do?

If a fly pop on softball is hit to right field and you are running bases.. If you are on any base but Home, run halfway just in case the ball is caught. If the other team misses it.. keep on running. If the catch it run back to the base you were at.
