Best Answer

The Golden Hurricane of Tulsa (Golden is a color!)

The Fighting Illini of Illinois

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame

The Wolfpack of NC State

The Midshipmen of Navy

The Cardinal of Stanford (cardinal is intended to be a color when Stanford uses it)

The Thundering Herd of Marshall

The Bison of North Dakota State University (not division 1)

The Fighting Sioux of University of North Dakota (might change names soon)

The Crimson Tide of University of Alabama (crimson is a color)

The Red Storm of St. Johns University (red is a color)

The Orangemen of Syracuse (Syracuse is the Orange, not the Orangemen and that's a color anyway)

I can only count 6 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS formerly division 1-A) teams with mascots that are not colors and do not end in an "s." I suppose people could argue over the Stanford Cardinal even though it is supposed to be the color.

Fighting Irish

Fighting Illini

NC State Wolfpack

Nevada Wolfpack

Navy Midshipmen

Marshal Thundering Herd

I add more names>>Howard Bison, Bucknell Bison, N. Dakota State Bison, Centenary Gentlemen, Mass. Minutemen, Elon Phoenix, ND State Fighting Sioux, Green Bay Phoenix.

These come from the Wikipedia List of Div I schools.

Cardinal is incorrect (it's a shade of red). Thundering Herd (Marshall), Wolfpack (NC State), Midshipmen (Navy), Fighting Souix (North Dakota) are also correct answers.
