The amount of time a computer takes to move depends on what computer it is.
Chess Guru is great if you want to learn how to play chess this is the place to be. It contains articles on both the basic rules of chess and on the more advanced elements such as tactic, theory of the middle game, end game and opening. Its focus mainly on teaching beginning and intermediate players and it does that in a series of step by step, easy to follow chess tutorials.
A computer which never plays chess will never lose. Seriously though, a computer programmed to play chess is simply running an algorithm designed to determine the best possible move in a situation, based on all possible countermoves and the possible progression of the game from there. The number of possible moves grows exponentially with each step further into the game the computer attempts to predict, and the memory of the computer cannot process that much data after a certain point, say, 10 moves later. It thus has to make an 'informed' decision on how to proceed, but this isn't necessarily the ideal move. Based on how chess computers operate, I would say there's always the chance to beat one, but I cannot conclusively say that there exists no infallible computer chess program. Even Data was beaten by Counsellor Troi on the Enterprise :-)

It is impossible but funny we can do check mate by moving one step
Step 1: Place the 8 white pawns from a-h2, and the 8 black pawns from a-h7. Step 2: Place the white rooks on a1 and h1, and the black rooks on a8 and h8. Step 3: Place the white knights on b1 and g1, and the black knights on b8 and g8. Step 4: Place the white bishops on c1 and f1, and the black bishops on c8 and f8. Step 5: Place the white queen on d1, the black one goes on d8. Step 6: Almost there! Now place the white king on e1, and black goes on e8. That is how you set up a chessboard.
Programmes in computer are step by step instructions that are design to enble the computer operate and perform a specific task
To find step by step instructions on how to backup a computer online, you may want to go to the website that your computer came from. If you have a dell computer you may want to go to the dell website and see if they have any information on backing up your computer.
An algoritm is a computer program, that tells the computer, step by step, exactly what you want it to do. The computer then "executes" the program, following each step mechanically, to accomplish the end goal.
