In Texas it is standard practice for prayer to be offered before every home football game in Catholic schools. It is also a common practice in many state (public) schools, especially those in rural areas. It is perfectly acceptable for a student to lead the prayer; every school has its own procedures as to how the person is chosen.

Being able to pray is a part of the freedom of religious expression found in most countries. If someone chooses to pray before playing, then they can. If you choose not to, then don't.
It is illegal under the establishment clause of the First Amendment for any employee of a public school to lead students in or require students to pray. Do not open your school class with a prayer.

Just like adults, each student in a school view things differently and has different opinions. Some who are Christians may want prayer, while some who are atheists may not want prayer. Some are maybe undecided. Each student has their own views. There is no one view of the students.
