It is hard to answer this without knowing what "Call Side" is.

In the USA (as a general rule) balls are called by one of two sets (in 8 ball); either HIGH / LOW or by STRIPES / SOLIDS - the 8 ball divides the two sets with the HIGH being STRIPES (9 - 15) and LOW being SOLIDS (1 - 7); the 8 ball of course is the object ball. Players select these sets based upon differing rules dependent on the type of play, as well as the area (nationally) you are playing in.

Different forms of play are also practiced. Call shots (meaning you must call the pocket, and if more than a simple shot, the form of the shot, ie: cue will contact the 5, the 5 will glance the 7 and pocket in this pocket). Call Object (meaning you must call the pocket for the object ball - very common) and deviations from those: Object ball must be banked, object ball must follow previous pocketed ball, etc.

I'm not sure that will answer your question as I don't know what calling sides is, but maybe it is close.

"Side" in Brittain is what we call "English" in America. It is the intentional spin, either Left or Right, that is put on the cue ball.
