My school has an asphalt track and I use racing flats. They're as light as spikes but they are spikeless. I would recommend the Nike Mayfly. They're only 4 ounces but not very durable. The average "life span" of the shoe is 100km or 62 miles.

Can you race in track shoes without the spikes?

Yes you can run in track shoes without the spikes but, I think that you should have spikes at the bottom of your track shoes because if you have the spikes then you can run faster than you would without them. Track and Field athletes that run during the indoor season run with studs, also known as blanks, in their shoes so as to not ruin the shoe or the track. They still choose to wear their spike shoes do to the lightweight nature of the shoe and the fact that they are accustomed to running in them. However, it is not recommended to wear stud/blanks on outdoor tracks.

Can you wear baseball cleats when running track?

Yes, you will need different track shoes and cleats/spikes for different events. The number of spikes, the pattern of spikes and the length of the spikes differs for sprinters, long distance runners and jumpers. If spikes are not used for running the shoes are still different. And throwing shoes do not have spikes and have a smooth sole.

I really need a good quality, durable, inexpensive pair of running shoes. It would be great if they were comfortable and have shoes laces also.?

Payless Located in the Mall if you live in BG Kentucky they will be around 30 bucks, if you want track shoes i prefer Nike track shoes in Dunums. Ob the bottom it should have little stubs that make you have more friction when running.
