If you want to try treating it at home, ice-pack for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off for an hour. Then rest a while and restart the cold therapy. Mild painkilles are okay if it hurts, and the antiinflamatory effects of somethign like aspirin or Ibuprofin would help. The next step is immobilization. Where most atheletes make a mistake is over-excercising the damaged hamstring before its healed. When it's injured, it's a lot more susceptible to further injury. Get with a doc or a pjhysical therapist on the range-of-motion tests and excercises you can do in order to reccuperate that muscle. Check the link below:
