If the liner has come out from the top of your in-ground pool in a couple of areas is there an easy way to tuck the liner back in and how and what do you use to tuck it back?

This has just happened to us. Our pool supply place told us to take the top rail off at the affected area, use a hair dryer to "soften" the liner to allow it to stretch over the top, and replace the top rail. We haven't done it yet--ours is only one small area--we're going to try to wait til the season end after we drain down the pool a bit.
If yours is off in several areas, I think I'd take the top rails off only one area at a time--fix one area and then move on to the next. Good Luck!
AnswerWell here is my 2 cents worth, My inground pool vinyl liner has come loose in a spot or two in the two years it has been installed, What was done was the company poured hot water in the opening then pulled the liner up and slipped the top part back in. I have found out from others that you can get a LINER LOCK strip that is tapped into the liner holding grove that will "lock" your liner in place. This runs about $40 for about a 120 foot piece, be sure that you do not stretch it when installing it, also I was told it should be installed in short (10 foot) pieces,Wiki User

If you just purchased a house with an inground indoor pool and there are a few areas of the liner that have slipped out from under the piece that holds it up will it will require a total replacement?
it depends on how old the liner is. if it has several years on it. it may need to be replaced. because the liner shrinks with age. so you may not be able to pull it back up.

I had an inground pool installed. We just turned on the lights at night and noticed footprints on the bottom. Can this be fixed? Call the pool company back. The bottom is normally sand mixed with cement. The liner will probably have to be removed and bottom smoothed. They should have checked that before installing the liner. Those printswi catch sediment and debris for the life of the liner.

I'm assuming that you have an inground vinyl lined pool. This is a chronic problem with inground vinyl lined pools, and is due to ground water being higher than the level of the water in your pool. The pressure of the ground water is greater than the pressure exerted by your pool water, and the liner floats. A half baked solution, is to wait until the ground is no longer saturated before removing water. The real solution is to provide a way for the ground water underneath your liner to be removed. This can be a passive system with a small pipe going under your liner and allowing the ground water to drain off (but this only works if you can keep all parts of that pipe below the level of the water in the pool-which depends completely on the pitch of the ground in your yard), or an active pumping system which pumps the ground water out to a drain.
