When a batter hits a ball very hard usually in front of home plate that hits the ground and bounces up high.
This is called strike three or one out
A baseball plate has five sides.
It would be considered a fair ball.
It is call plate.
Home plate is considered fair territory. Thus, if the ball hits home plate AND then never leaves fair territory, it remains a fair ball. However, if the ball hits home plate, and afterwards goes into foul territory before leaving the infield, then it is a foul ball.
It's up to the umpire's discretion. They can call the pitch a strike even if it hits someone leaning over the plate.
A broken plate is often referred to as "shattered" or "smashed."
There are 3 bases in all levels of baseball. Sometimes, younger kids call home plate a base (home base), but there are officially 3 bases.
