I have a dunebuggy That has a 78 Toyota Corolla 1166cc 4 banger engine in it the 2 barrel carburetor i just rebuilt it and it will fire and run but then it will backfire and spit fuel out of the top?

Burned valve, Check the compression. Also check the timing sounds like it is firing to late..

Those carburetors are controlled with about 5 electronic sensors. About the only thing adjustable on them is the idle set screw. You probably can still get a rebuild kit for them, and you will also need to get a repair manual, or go to the Library as you will find technical details needed when checking the condition of the sensors. If any of the sensors check out bad, you won't be able to replace them. You will be stuck with either getting another carburetor from the salvage yard, and rebuilding it, or you will have to get a rebuilt one for about $400.00.
