Firstly, obviously you would need a threading "die" and a die handle the type of thread a skateboard axel is im not sure maybe metric/imperial to find the correct die you would have to use a thread guage first. In order to get a good cut you need to have it on square and use some cutting compound. VOODOO 13: I use the REFLEX UTILITOOL skateboard multitool it has a built-in thread die to rethread your trucks.

If you want a decent pair that are light and strong your lookin at about 40+ for things like tensor, independent or fury etc. If your just starting skating, go for 20-30 if your into skatboarding and your board need improvements get some 50 quid ones.
