his childhood was alright he grew up in a suburb in a town house with his mother and father in SE NYC, he had no siblings (living) they all died young Lou was the youngest child that the Gehrig's had. He was chubby but that changed in highschool. He played Baseball between the time of school and his job, Lou played with other boys in vacant lots and in the streets, there was no little league so teams from different neighborhoods played each other and they all chipped in to buy a game ball the winning team would get the ball and that's most of his child hood
