Be explosive out of the blocks, keep your head down and stay low (this is called your drive phase) for the first 20-30 meters, stay relaxed, pick your head up and finish. The race is over before you know it so it is critical to stay low and drive because if you pick your head up and you see a lot of backs, you make it harder on yourself to win that race and chase times.

by speed training. most common way is to sprint for 100m jog for next 100m sprint another 100m jog 100m. do this continously for 30mins. do it at least 3 times a week. your speed will improve. maybe not significantly but it will improve.
