New Zealand has traditionally been represented by the New Zealand Warriors in the National Rugby League (NRL) due to various factors, including the country's smaller population compared to Australia and the historical development of the sport. The Warriors, established in 1995, became the first and only team from NZ to join the NRL, which has led to a singular representation. Additionally, the focus on rugby union in New Zealand has limited the growth of rugby league, contributing to the Warriors' unique position in the league.
