The Washington Redskins first began playing in what is now Fed Ex field in 1997. The first game at the field occurred when the stadium was called Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. When it was built, Jack Kent Cooke Stadium had 85,000 seats, and became the largest stadium in the National Football League. The stadium contains three tiers of red and yellow seats that circle the entire field. When Daniel Snyder bought the Redskins in 1999, the naming rights for the stadium were were sold to Federal Express, thus the field was renamed FedEx Field.
