A traditional soccer ball is made of 32 faces :- 20 hexagonal faces and 12 pentagonal faces. Each pentagon is surrounded by 5 hexagons and each hexagon is surrounded by 3 more hexagons and 3 pentagons.
When inflated this 32 faced shape becomes more approximately spherical.

A soccer ball (a.k.a. a truncated icosahedron) does have 12 pentagonal faces but does not have 12 hexagonal faces, it has 20. It will have 60 vertices.
