About 36 ATP molecules are produced from a single molecule of glucose. There are 2 pathways by which ATP is produced one is aerobic (in presence of oxygen) and other is anerobic (without oxygen). ATP is the energy rich molecule produced at diffferent levels when a glucose molecule undergoes breakdown into intermediate compounds through a long pathway called glycolysis which takesplace in mitochondria. A complex series of events follow in glycolysis, which involve transfer of important groups like phosphate, hydroxyl etc from or to the glucose molecule. thus ATP is produced as a result of these complex events and utilised in daily energy requirements.

What is the first step to breaking down a glucose molecule is?

Breaking down glucose into pyruvate is known as Glycolysis. Glycolysis involves splitting one molecule of the simple 6-carbon sugar glucose into two smaller molecules of the 3-carbon pyruvate. The process is anaerobic and occurs in the cytoplasm of cell.

What does a total of 36 molecules of ATP are produced from 1 molecule of glucose as a result?

The process of breaking down a molecule glucose (beginning with 2 ATP) to form CO2 + H2O + 36 ATP is called glycolysis.

How do you describe the process of cellular respiration?

Cellular respiration is the process that releases energy by breaking down glucose and other food molecules in the presence of oxygen.cellular respiration- process that release energy by breaking down glucose and food molecule in the presence of oxygen.

Each sucrose molecule is hydrolyzed in the small intestine to form one molecule of what?

The sucrose molecules are broken down in the molecules of glucose which is the simplest form od the saccharides. The sucrose in the body is not readily metabolized but it has to be broken down into simpler form of molecules. The glucose is easily metabolized int he body.

How did the glucose molecule get broken down and transported to a cell?

2 ATP molecules are used to break the glucose molecule into two pyruvate molecules in the cytoplasm. Then the pyruvate travels to the mitochondria, where it is broken down further and produces 34 ATP molecules, which are used to power a cell.

When a molecule of glucose is broken down b y aerobic respiration the energy stored in the glucose gets transferred to?

The energy stored in the glucose molecule gets transferred to molecules of ATP.

What is 38 APT's per glucose molecule?

It means that when one molecule of glucose is completely broken down by the process of aerobic cellular respiration, 38 molecules of ATP are produced.

What stores more potential energy one molecule of glucose or two molecules of pyruvic acid explain?

One molecule of glucose, because 2 ATPs are formed when glucose is broken down to pyruvic acid.

What process produces 2 ATP molecules from every glucose molecule it breaks down?

Anerobic respiration

Do starchy foods provide energy?

Yes. The starch molecule is a string of glucose molecules. When eaten, the starch is broken down by enzymes into individual glucose molecules. Glucose is the human body's primary source of energy.
