Yes. Record held by many.
He must pitch a minimum of 5 complete innings.
Pitch count has nothing to do with eligibility to be the winning pitcher. In a scheduled 9-inning game, the starting pitcher must pitch 5 complete innings to be eligible to be the winning pitcher. Relief pitchers must be the pitcher of record when the winning team takes the lead, and never relinquishes the lead, to be the winning pitcher.
it could just be 1 pitch. all bepends on what stage the game is when that pitcher pitches. it would have to be the 5th inning or later.
IT can be as little as a 1/3 of an inning. It just depends who was the current pitcher when the team got the lead over the other IT can be as little as a 1/3 of an inning. It just depends who was the current pitcher when the team got the lead over the other
Unlike the starting pitcher, a relief pitcher has no minimum number of innings pitched. Given the definition of a win, however, it's impossible for a pitcher to achieve it without pitching at least 0.1 inning (one out).
0. The pitcher could give up any amount of runs while getting no outs in the 1st inning. i.e. if the pitcher fave up 100 runs in the 1st inning while getting no outs and was lifted I would think he would get the loss.
The manager may only visit the pitcher one time each inning and have that pitcher remain in the game. The manager cannot visit the pitcher more than once during the same at-bat. If the manager visits the pitcher twice in one inning, a new pitcher must be brought in. If the manager visits the pitcher twice in the same at-bat, the pitcher must pitch to the batter, and then a new pitcher must be brought in.
It depends, the pitcher must be in the game when his/ her team takes the lead. So, the pitcher could be put in an inning with 2 outs, throw one ball that ends up as a ground out or pop up and then the next half inning his/ her team takes the lead. in this case, this 1 pitch pitcher would get the win. The pitcher could also be take out of the game in the next inning but would still have the win
