Any gymnast who competes all four events (in womens' gymnastics), beam, vault, bar, and floor, is eligible to place in All around. i don't know specifics about mens gymnastics, but i believe it's the same theory. any gymnast who competes on every event can compete in all around.

How many players were allowed to play in artistic gymnastics?

For the team competitions, the number of gymnasts in a team is 6 (but sometimes with a minimum of 3 -this situation can occur if a club does not have enough gymnasts in a particular level). There are many options for team compositions, depending on the competition. Some of these: At the Olympics and other major international competitions, there are 6 gymnasts in a team and 3 compete on each apparatus, with all 3 scores contributing towards the team score. At other competitions, there are 6 gymnasts in a team - 4 compete on each apparatus and the best 3 scores count towards the team total. The other option is where there are 6 gymnasts in a team and all compete, with the best 4 scores counting. This situation often occurs when all gymnasts must complete all apparatus (such as a qualification for the next round).

What event allows two tries when competing in gymnastics?

It sounds like you're talking about vault. In a team competition or all around competition, gymnasts only do one vault. In event finals gymnasts compete two different vaults. The average of the two scores is their final score.

Do Olympic rhythmic-gymnasts have to use apparatus'?

Yes. Each year, four out of the five apparatuses (ball, rope, hoop, clubs, ribbon) are selected for rhythmic gymnasts to compete in. These are hand held apparatuses, and are all used on the floor.

Why did 1996 women's gymnastic team have seven members and 2008 team only six?

The FIG (the International Gymnastic Federation) changed the rules in the team competition. In the 1996 Olympic gymnastic team competitions four gymnasts from each team would compete on the apparatus during the team competition. The lowest score (out of four) was dropped. Only 3 out of the 4 final scores counted. Because more gymnasts competed on each event, there were seven team members. 4 gymnasts competed, and 3 sat out. After the rule change, only 3 girls from each team compete on an apparatus and all of the scores count. If a gymnastic team had 7 members, then 4 girls would sit out each event, and that is one too many under the FIG rules. Because only 3 girls can sit out and 3 girls compete on each event, the maximum number of gymnasts a 2008 Olympic team can have is 6.

Do the gymnasts get paid at a large gymnastics event that has thousands of paid customers?

If you're talking about competitions, then no. Competitive gymnasts are never paid (in the U.S. or at international competitions) to compete, even if it's the Olympics with thousands of paid spectators. There is, with one very very limited exception, no such thing as being a "professional" gymnast. Gymnastics is all amateur.

Why are rhythmic gymnasts so skinny?

Many international rhythmic gymnasts are on very, verystrict diets. Another reason is like artistic gymnasts they train very hard from a young age which affects puberty and developement of the body. Artistic gymnasts build more solid muscle that gives them a little bit of bulk, while rhythmic gymnasts focus mostly on stretching and dance, so they don't have as much of the muscle mass that an artistic gymnast who trains for high impact skills would have or need. The ideal body for rhythmic gymnastics is slender and a little more long than for artistic gymnastics. The reason why people think rhythmic gymnasts are all skinny is because that is all we see. Tiny twig athletes usually make the best rhythmic gymnasts, but not all are.
