Keep in mind, when they practice during the week, you have 1st, 2nd and 3rd string players on both offense and defense. That's 66 players just to fill in the depth chart. You have the walk-ons who have dreams of playing - and many do. The walk-ons become a key player in preparing the starters for the coming game. They simulate the other teams tendencies.
